Stairways to Heaven (Rigth Bank)
Ras Al Khaimah
Hiking
RIGHT BANK
Duration: 7-8 hours
Distance: 13 Km
Climb: 1500 M
Level: Intermediate
This hike is rightly known as the most famous and spectacular hike of UAE.
It takes you all the way up the impressive cliff face of Jebel Jais. An ancient bedouin way taken by farmers to reach the top of these mountains, otherwise reachable only by a long detour through Khassab.
There are two routes from Wadi Galilah to reach the top of Jebel Jais.
The "left bank", which is the mighty trail, with often almost vertical steps over the cliff face of Jais. And the "right bank", that follows a safer well market trail.
To be noted that the Left Trail is currently forbidden by the authorities, because it culminates within the territory of Oman (with no alternatives then entering into Oman), making it illegal to complete.
Hence the trail that is currently followed is the right bank, which has a proper wider trail and still grants the most impressive views of Wadi Galilah, RAK and the sea below.
After 1400m of elevation gain by a steep trail, it reaches the Voh Village, at an altitude of 1700m (where most of the hikers make a stop to then come back down from the same trail.
To be noted that there is an alternative by continue the Hike towards the south summit of Jais, therefore reaching the viewing deck and the tarmac road that reaches Jebel Jais.
